Connor Anderson has been working at Hill & Wilkinson for almost two years, specifically at the Central Texas Office. But his first introduction to Hill & Wilkinson was when he was just 15 years old. Just a high school student, Connor was at a thrift shop in Garland, Texas when he found a vintage Hill & Wilkinson hat and decided to buy it, not knowing that he would end up here years later.
Connor grew up surrounded by the construction industry. “Growing up, I worked on different jobsites doing fencing and landscaping work for general contractors. I was always intrigued by how buildings went up around me. So I decided to go to school to learn more about it.” Connor went to Texas State University, where he studied construction science. Now, he works as an assistant superintendent at a company he really enjoys. “I love how well Hill & Wilkinson treats their employees and how they make you feel like you are a part of a family,” he said. “They throw events and like bringing everyone together.”
Connor enjoys getting to see jobs built from the ground up. “I like being out in the field, seeing how different trades work, and how overall construction comes together,” he said. “It’s cool to see the process from the beginning to the end.”
For Connor, that old hat was just the beginning of his own process that has led him to where he is today. When asked what he would say to that 15-year-old kid at some random thrift store in Garland, he said, “I would tell myself, ‘Good job, bud! That hat is going to help get you a job one day.’”
