Preservation Dallas, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of the city’s historic buildings, neighborhoods, and places, has awarded the Continental Gin Building a 2022 Preservation Achievement Award!
This project is a 62,400 sf renovation of a 130-year-old building into a multi-use complex with offices, retail space, and a restaurant. The core and shell of the building are made up of the existing brick from 130 years ago and the majority of the ceiling joists are from the original installation. The building includes a 130-year old weight scale and in-place crane that was used to distribute cotton gins back in 1883.
The overall site of the Continental Gin Building was upgraded to more modernized landscaping with concrete pavers as the walking path into the building, upgraded metal railing and exterior stairs, and an outdoor wood deck that wraps the west and north side of the building and provides outdoor seating.
