The Continental Gin Building and Jesuit Natatorium have both won the 2022 CMAA Project Achievement Awards in their respective categories!
The Continental Gin Building – Commercial Renovations Under $50M
This project is a 62,400 sf renovation of a 130-year-old building in the heart of Dallas into a multi-use complex with offices, retail space, and restaurants. The core and shell of the building utilize the original brick and timber structure from 130 years ago. The building includes a weight scale and in-place crane that was used to distribute cotton gins back in 1888. A majority of the wooden ceiling joists are from the original building. Construction began in July 2019 and was completed in February 2021.
Jesuit Natatorium – Education Under $50M
This project is a 30,000 sf, three-story, stand-alone natatorium located in Dallas and constructed in the center of the existing campus, adjacent to the football stadium. The facility features a nine-lane competition pool, separate three-lane warm-up pool, elevated bleacher section, concession area, lounge area, locker rooms, restrooms, and administrative offices. Construction began in July 2019 and was completed in April 2021.
Both of these projects were constructed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the project teams encountered challenges that threatened to cause schedule delays due to the effects of the pandemic, the teams were able to overcome them and complete both of these projects on time and under budget.
