The 10,000 sf laboratory addition included three lecture/lab science classrooms, shared science prep rooms, and administration spaces. The overall design of the addition is respectful to the existing 1960s-style architecture. The use of matching brick, continuation of the roof overhang, and articulation of window openings establishes a seamless and integrated design.
Phase 1 ultimately replaces two existing buildings on campus – an administration building and a portable classroom building. Phase 2 consisted of additional science classrooms, shared science prep rooms, an administration suite, faculty offices, workrooms, tutor rooms, renovation of existing classroom space, and a science garden for investigation, demonstration, and research. The science wing introduces an architectural expression and building materials that create a secondary entrance to help “book-end” the building.
