This project is a 3,900 sf renovation of an existing, Tier IV data center while it remained operational.
The equipment racks were rearranged to achieve optimum above-floor air flow and to allow better access to the equipment. All HVAC units were replaced and the overall capacity of the data center was increased. Redundant units were provided to improve the reliability of the data center. A new centralized UPS was provided with power distribution units located adjacent to the equipment. The building provides 150 watts per square foot.
The overall schedule was extended due to the intensive planning involved in the movement of servers and data transfer. This process took many additional months of coordination between Alcon Facilities, IT, and Hill & Wilkinson. As a result of careful planning, Alcon did not experience any disruptive downtime.
