H&W’s Nick Houdek Reaches Second Highest Enlisted Rank in U.S. Air Force Reserves

February 26, 2025

On March 1st, our own Senior Project Manager, Nick Houdek, will be promoted to the second-highest enlisted rank in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

Nick’s interest in the military began in 2001, after the attacks of 9/11. Shortly thereafter, in 2003, he entered basic training and was first deployed to Iraq in 2005. Since then, he’s served in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, and Qatar.

Nick reflected on how meaningful the promotion is to him, as it signifies years of dedication, hard work, and the trust placed in him by his superiors and peers.

“It’s not just a title; it’s a responsibility to uphold the highest standards of leadership, to set an example, and to inspire others,” Nick explained. “While this promotion is a personal achievement, it would not have been possible without the incredible sacrifices my family has made over the years. My wife, Cortney, and my children, Ayden and Addyson, have endured countless separations, missed holidays, and disrupted routines so I can serve. Their unwavering support and resilience are the foundation of my success.”

Nick is currently holding the title of Senior Master Sergeant Select. During a promotion ceremony on March 1, he will take on the title of Senior Master Sergeant. Achieving the rank of SMSgt in the Air Force is a significant milestone, representing the top 2% of the enlisted force. It comes with increased responsibility for mentoring, managing, and leading Airmen. The rank signifies readiness to assume strategic-level leadership roles, focusing on mission execution, organizational goals, and the development of junior enlisted personnel.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to Hill & Wilkinson for their support throughout my military career,” said Nick. “From care packages while deployed to understanding the demands of my Reserve duties, this company has truly demonstrated its commitment to honoring those who serve.”

From his seventeen years of diligence in the field with H&W to transforming his dedication to our country into action, we couldn’t be prouder of Nick. We are incredibly grateful to have him as part of the H&W family. Please join us in congratulating Nick on this outstanding accomplishment!
