He began his career at Henry C. Beck and was the Project Manager on North Park Mall in Dallas. He founded Luther Hill & Associates in 1968. He researched constantly and brought principles of manufacturing into the construction world. He created the position of Vice President of Research and Development within his firm in 1972. Luther was an early proponent of design-build and would involve subcontractors early in the design process. These efforts led to the construction of the first multi-level parking garage in Texas, a design-build project at Parkland Hospital.

Luther’s creativity and focus on customer service were passed on to Greg and Fritz when they joined forces with him in 1985 to create Hill & Wilkinson.

Luther retired to East Texas in 1987 with his wife Judith and passed away July 21, 2005.
